Beschreibung
The study of animal minds is one of the most exciting areas in the cognitive sciences. This course provides a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary account of animal cognition by focusing on its history, approaches to animal cognition, theory of evolution, as well as physical (spatial cognition, tool-use) and social cognitive skills (social knowledge and interactions, communication, emotions and facial expressions, theory of mind), and linkages to human cognition. It will be tightly linked to ongoing research of scientists in the Comparative BioCognition group. Methods of instruction comprise classical lectures and critical discussions. Course credits can be obtained by passing a final exam.
