This course will provide an overview of theoretical linguistics, with a focus on those subfields that study meaning: Semantics and Pragmatics. This course does not have any prerequisites, but some basic familiarity with logic (e.g., propositional logic, predicate logic) is recommended. Taking the practical component of this course in addition to the lecture component is highly recommended for students who want to continue taking courses in Linguistics.
